Committees


  Committees serve to enhance the AMS in its varying endeavours, not least to help more members get involved in the AMS, to speed up and increase the reach and benefit of the AMS's activity across the Asian region. Committees are initiated by and report to the Executive Committee. Committees comprise one chairperson who is appointed by the Executive Committee for a period of two years and may be re-appointed for a further two-year term once thereafter.



Research and Grants Committee

Chairman: Prof Xiaoguang Cheng, Jishuitan Hospital, Beijing.

Aim: Encouraging AMS members to undertake and facilitate research into musculoskeletal imaging in the Asian region.  

 

Activities of the Research & Grants Committee may involve the following:

1.    Building liaisons with companies and other supporting bodies with a view to promoting research and obtaining funding for grants or sponsoring research prizes within the AMS.

2.    Considering ways to promote collaborative research in different Asian locations ie. inter-institutional research with other AMS members.

3.    Representing the AMS in areas related to research with other international or national musculoskeletal societies.

4.    Facilitating industry-based research in the Asian region.

5.    Helping AMS members to find mentors (rather than supervisors) for PhD or MPhil programs.

6.    Encouraging members to submit posters and scientific papers to the Annual Scientific Meeting and applying for the “AMS Best Paper Award”

 

In line with other AMS committees:

º  The Research & Grants Committee will comprise 4-5 members with no more than two members from any single country.

º  The Chairman of the Committee will be responsible for overseeing the work of the Committee as well as inviting members to join the Committee.

º  The Committee will report to the AMS Executive Committee each year for the work of the Research & Grants Committee and to obtain approval, when necessary, to proceed with planned agendas.

º  Chairmanship of the Research & Grants Committee will be for two years.



Education & Training Committee

Chairman: Prof Mahesh Prakash, Department of Radiology, PGIMER, Chandigarh, India.

Aim: To promote the education and training of musculoskeletal imaging to AMS members with a view to optimizing the quality of musculoskeletal imaging across the Asian region.

 

Activities of the Education & Training Committee may involve the following:

1.    The organization, supervision, and coordination of educational courses, webinars, workshops related to musculoskeletal imaging under the auspices of the AMS within the Asian region.

2.    The established of AMS led training course in different aspects of musculoskeletal imaging (such as radiography, MRI, CT, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and interventional radiology)

3.  Provide guidance, where necessary, on the establishment of appropriate national musculoskeletal imaging training guidelines around the Asian region.

4.  To represent and liaise with other international or national societies on AMS issues related to education and training.

5.  Provide guidance, where necessary, on the establishment of appropriate national musculoskeletal imaging training guidelines around the Asian region.

6.  Liaising with companies and other funding bodies to provide sponsorship for educational and training endeavors. 

7.  Helping to facilitate the training placement of AMS members within the Asian region for short- or longer-term musculoskeletal imaging fellowships.

8.  Potentially organizing AMS-sponsored Regional Outreach Programs within the AMS region.

 

In line with other AMS committees:

º  The Education & Training Committee will comprise 4-5 members with no more than two members from any single country.

º  The Chairman of the Committee will be responsible for overseeing the work of the Committee as well as inviting members to join the Committee.

º  The Committee will report to the AMS Executive Committee each year for the work of the Education and Training Committee and to obtain approval, when necessary, to proceed with planned agendas.

º  Chairmanship of the Education & Training Committee will be for two years.



Junior Committee

Chairman: TBC

Aim: To provide a voice and encourage the participation of junior members of the AMS

 

Activities of the Junior Committee may involve the following:

1.      To consider ways in which the AMS can further reach out to and engage junior members of the AMS

2.      To encourage junior members to join the AMS.

3.      To encourage the greater participation of junior members in the Society.

4.      To help promote the AMS on social media

5.      To advise the Executive Committee on ways in which the Society can help junior members in their careers, and training.

6.      To consider ways in which the AMS can help more junior members get involved in research

7.      To encourage junior members to submit posters and papers to the Scientific Session of the Annual Scientific Meeting and apply for the “AMS Best Paper Award”. 

 

In line with other AMS committees:

º  The Junior Committee will comprise 4-5 members with more than two members from a single country. All members should be less than 40 years of age. 

º  The Chairman of the Junior Committee will be responsible for overseeing the work of the Committee as well as inviting members to join the Committee. 

º  The Junior Committee will report to the AMS Executive Committee each year for the work of the Junior Committee and to obtain approval, when necessary, to proceed with planned agendas.

º  Chairmanship of the Junior Committee will be for two years.
